DSE (DISPLAY SCREEN EQUIPMENT) ASSESSMENT

Nordic Rehab service available for businesses in Solihull and Birmingham

  • Nordic Rehab carries out gold standard DSE assessments exceeding the basic DSE regulations requirements (1992).

  • We focus on providing a practical and sensible approach to perfectly setting up individual workstations, despite disability or condition.

  • Our approach aims to help prevent work related discomfort, which over time can develop into more serious problems, such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Such conditions can result in absence and reduced productivity at work.

  • We always work towards empowering people with knowledge in how to prevent work related discomfort and MSKs.

  • Our assessments are also aimed at people with complex needs, disabilities and/ or mobility problems. We aim to enable everybody - irrespective of needs and disability- to be able to carry out their job effectively and successfully.

WHY DSE ASSESSMENT IS IMPORTANT?

  • By law employers have to ensure that employees that work regularly with computers undertake a DSE assessment. Such assessments are in most organisations undertaken once a year.

  • Aside of the legal jargon, human beings are not made for sitting still for a sustained length of time. In fact, prolonged static postures - whether standing or sitting- typically results in some form of discomfort when maintained for too long. Our Nordic Rehab method encourages and educates people to move more, whatever their situation and job role, without negatively impacting on productivity.

  • Over time, static and ‘bad' postures - imagine the typical slouched spinal postures observed in an office - can result in and aggravate neck, back and shoulder pain. Repetitive use of a mouse and keyboard can also result in finger, wrist and elbow discomfort. Our assessment, employee education and recommendations always aim to mitigate the risk for the above problems through a sensible and cost-effective approach.

  • People with disabilities may need extra support at work to ensure that they are able to carry out their job effectively. Our DSE work station assessors are experts at assessing the needs of people with disabilities,  thereby optimising the potential and opportunity of all employees.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A DSE ASSESSMENT?

  • Our Nordic Rehab assessor will arrive at your workplace, at an agreed time and location, to assess employees.

  • The initial part of the assessment involves talking to the individual worker about the history of their problem, their job role and how their problems impact on their work and life.

  • At this point our assessors may give advice, education and exercises - specific to the needs of the individual employee. Such active approach can help people manage their problem or recover from the issue completely.

  • The assessment then moves onto the workstation itself. Here we will make physical adjustments and give practical advice to help enable the person carry out their job better, and reduce any aches and strains. Any limitations to the workstation, when compared to the employees health problems, will also be identified.

  • Finally, a confidential report with practical recommendations will be produced - typically within 5 working days. The recommendations in the report are specifically geared up towards ensuring that the employer is DSE compliant and that the individual worker knows how to keep themselves healthy at work
